Saving Fuel

If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back to the rich state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos. - Edward O. Wilson

Reducing emissions

·         Switch off the engine if you think you’ll be stationary for more than half a minute. Idling this long burns more energy than it takes to restart the engine.

·         Share the school-run with a roster of parents to cut congestion and save on your fuel bill.

·         By checking that your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure for your journey and car load, you save on fuel.

·         If you have unnecessary items in your car or boot, the additional weight could increase the amount of fuel that your car uses. By decluttering your car, you could cut down your carbon emissions.

·         By keeping within the speed limits, you can save on fuel. At 70mph you could be using up to 15% more fuel than at 50mph.

·         Stopping and accelerating in traffic uses up more fuel than slowing down early and keeping the car in gear.
